The character of the City of Chandler is being ruined by tiny homes on tiny lots, and multi-story apartment blocks.
Instead of preserving the original character of Chandler, with larger homes on generous lots, the City Council appears bent on turning Chandler into a dense urban hell hole. Multi-story apartment buildings have been erected all over the city in recent years.
But even new single family home developments seem to mainly feature small homes and small lots. Instead of the traditional term - high density housing - planners and officials call these homes affordable. Yet, homes as small as 1,300 sqft, located next to highway 202 and McQueen Road are offered for over $600,000. That's not affordable.
In truth, the housing shortage is caused by 3 things:
Ultra-cheap money thanks to Fed policy during Covid led to most homes on the market being snapped up, often as second, and hence mostly unoccupied, homes.
Mass immigration. Even if there are 10 illegal immigrants living in a house, with 10 Million of more illegal immigrants having been admitted by the Biden administration in the last 3 years, that's a total of 1 Million homes that are NOT available for American families to buy.
Supply crunch. Covid policies shut down construction and lumber mill activity for some months. Although there was a brief construction boom after gradual re-opening, this was suffocated and turned into a bust by the interest rate increases necessary to tame inflation that was caused by the cheap Covid money, the lockdowns and most importantly the reckless spending of the Biden administration.
Government caused the problems. Their solution now? Secure the border? Of course not. Stop the over-spending that causes inflation? Of course not. Instead Chandler, like so many other government agencies, departments and jurisdictions just passed a budget almost double the size from just 4 years ago, further fueling inflation. So what do they do? Let citizens live in pods? Looks like it. Expensive pods too.
